Research Projects
The Archaeological Survey implements numerous projects each year with a diverse range of clients. A majority of our work is performed as part of a statewide CRM program administered by the State University of New York at Binghamton. UB is responsible for most of the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) and federal highway archaeology and architectural assessments that occur in the western New York region. In addition, the Survey receives grants and contracts from private, county and other state entities to perform reconnaissance surveys, site examinations and large scale excavations for a variety of reasons. These include; residential development, utility and infrastructure projects, oil, gas, mineral and energy related projects, commercial development and the like.
This section contains selected examples of current and recent projects with the permission of the project sponsor.
